The Math Teachers: Charles A. Grau who is completing a total of 30-years as an elected volunteer to the Montville Township Public Schools Board of Education, and 62 years in education in NJ, presented the MTPS 50-Years-of-Service Award to Toby Cohen. Grau taught Cohen math in the 1960’s. Cohen has been a Robert R. Lazar Middle School Math Teacher for 50-years.

“Practice Makes Permanent!” The Montville Township High School students who attended the Montville Township Public Schools Multilingual Academy at Woodmont Elementary School this summer served as leaders and mentors for the younger students in the program. The older students assisted  elementary students in refreshing and revitalizing reading skills at Woodmont Elementary.

Alyson Coppola, of Woodmont Elementary , and Naomi McCloskey, a Montville Township High School [MTHS] Counselor, and Anthony Sia, an MTHS Business and Marketing teacher, are each leading a group of high school students on international trips that focus on the exploration of Global Entrepreneurship. During July 2024, three educators from the Montville Township Public Schools [MTPS] are Program Leaders for three unique, 3-week, “Global Navigator - High School Summer Abroad” programs. Hosted by CIEE [Council on International Educational Exchange], the MTPS teachers are each leading a different specialty program that focuses on specific student interests. All three programs connect students from across the United States with international professionals in each subject area. CIEE offers programs in more than 30 subject areas. Becoming a CIEE Program Leader is a competitive endeavor.
Cristina Ryduchowski, the Montville Township High School [MTHS] Class of 2024 Vice President, spoke of bravery at the 53rd Annual MTHS Graduation Ceremony. The event was held outside, on the field, in the Mustangs Stadium, on June 20, 2024.

Aarav Mulinti is the Salutatorian of the Montville Township High School Class of 2024. The graduate will major in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
Ryan Sun is the Valedictorian of the Montville Township High School [MTHS] Class of 2024. A leader in his class, Sun also served as the President of the Class of 2024 for the entire four years of his high school career.  Sun will attend Dartmouth College in the fall. He plans to major in Economics.
Over 275 members of the Montville Township High School [MTHS] Class of 2024 participated in the 53rd Annual MTHS Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Despite intense heat, the school’s tradition graduating from the MTHS Mustang Stadium was upheld. At the end of the ceremony the graduates tossed their mortar boards into the air.
Class President Zaara Metha led the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the STAR SPANGLED BANNER and addressed her peers and their families at the 71st Annual Robert R. Lazar Promotion Ceremony. “These last three years at Lazar have been an amazing experience. Whatever obstacles we faced, we overcame. With the lessons middle school has taught us, high school will be another successful chapter in our lives,” Metha said. Over 230 8th grade students were promoted at the ceremony on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Living Lessons speaker Thomas J. Jones Jr. is a World War II Veteran. THOMAS J. JONES, JR. will be honored at Citi Field on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. Mr. Jones, a 98-year-old resident of Montville Township, New Jersey, has been named the VETERAN OF THE GAME by the Mets organization.  A crowd of 40,000 is estimated to be in attendance as the New York METS confront the New York YANKEES. During the June 25 game between the Mets and Yankees, Mr. Jones, will be seated in the VIP seating area behind home plate. As the designated VETERAN OF THE GAME, the Mets will salute Mr. Jones around the 3rd inning.
The Cedar Hill Elementary School A/V Club made a presentation showcasing their productions made with state of the art video equipment donated by the Montville Township Education Foundation, The A/V Club at Cedar Hill is comprised of eleven fifth grade students and two advisors. In April and May the Montville Township Public Schools district celebrated STEAM across all district schools. Teachers Jerald Wayne and Karin Wardell, Lazar Steam Club Advisors, supported student club members as they facilitated STEAM events for their peers in grades 6 to 8 on May 31, 2024.

Nine Montville Township High School athletes were celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the school’s Annual Student Athlete Recognition Day. In announcing intentions to play college-level sports, the students posed for photos with coaches, administrators, and family members. Eight of the students will play Division 3. One student, Alexis Riley, has signed-on for Division 1 ACHA Ice Hockey at Penn State University. Athletic Director Wayne Guarino congratulated the seniors and noted the level of Mustang Pride the Montville Township Public Schools district and the community-at-large feels toward these outstanding athletes. Student Leaders, Sophia, Paul, Stella, and Aidan. These fifth grade Student Leaders led the exercise routines for Valley View’s elementary students.  For the past 36 years, Valley View Elementary School has participated in A.C.E.S. – All Children Exercise Simultaneously. On May 1, 2024, the elementary students exercised simultaneously with millions of students around the globe. ACES was developed at Valley View in 1989. SPORTS ILLUSTRATED once called ACES “The world’s largest exercise class.”
